HOW TO :METALLIC LIPS 101
Hi guys! How are you doing today ? I hope you are all doing well during this crazy crazy time.
In the last couple of days I have been playing with makeup and although I am not a fan of the metallic lip trend I saw some look Pat McGrath created recently and absolutely feel in love with them so much so I wanted to try them immediately ,in particular this one.
I don’t think I need to introduce this genius to anyone of you because she’s just the queen of the queen . I have been saving money for ages just for the possibility to try some of her range because I super expensive but the most amazing products ever.
Anyway in the photo I saw there was this amazing woman with basically a bare face ,the most soft porcelain skin with a slightly shimmery lid and this amazing terra-cotta shade glittery lips.
She has this amazing red hairs and I don’t know what it was in particular that drown me to that but I taught it was just perfection . I would have love to see that look on a dark skin model, that would have been the definition of perfection .
But anyway ,the main focus of the look are obiuvsly the lips : a glittery triumph over an orange based warm toned red. Autumn here we come!
The skin was fresh and luminous , no trace of bronzer or blush or highlighter ,the most no makeup makeup base you could think of . I love the contrast of having such a strong feature in evidence and the rest being kept so clean and fresh ,it really adds a modern twist to something so 80s you can hear Dancing queen in the background .
To recreate the same base or the same feeling I guess I should say , I use my favorite medium coverage bb cream from It cosmetics . This product is super luminous giving your skin the most luminous and blur effect without being cakey or too full coverage.
I applied it with my blending brush from zoeva and a small amount goes a really long way.https://www.itcosmetics.com/face/foundation/your-skin-but-better-cc-cream-with-spf-50/ITC_0008.html
I then went on my brow to really make them fuller and redish toned by using my favorite urban decay brow pencil . A fuller brows is crucial I think in this case because we want the focus to be the lips and we are leaving everything so clean and bare that a good brows provides us the perfect balanced frame from the up and down of our face. for someone like me who basically has a round face is absolutely necessary.
For the eyes I used the most glittery without a colored base eye shadow I could fin in my collection and I stumble upon the shade ride-or-diamonds from the Morphe x Jaclyn Hill palette volume 2 , but you can honestly also use a light layer of your own highlighter to recreate the same effect .We almost want a bare lid but whenever the light touches the skin some sort of glittery glince came trough ,that’s the effect we want to achieve ,easy right ?
Lashes are light ,feathery ,fluffy ,no trace of volume on the roots ,no clumpiness, the classic no mascara lashes look which is harder to achieve for girls and boys like me who have not blessed with long lashes but the Charlotte Tilbury mascara is here to helps us.https://www.charlottetilbury.com/it/product/full-fat-lashes-glossy-black?istCompanyId=014f7a0f-3cdc-49fb-97e8-44f56d09bbae&istFeedId=4b872f77-29bb-4e06-9e52-e1a25a592259&istItemId=irrliqlix&istBid=t&gclid=CjwKCAjwmf_4BRABEiwAGhDfSdg7YazuUB2ssollHiyd43zHdk_iqA8DX-AcNt9kiu_oE0NGrTqDjBoCuOkQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
Foe the piece de resistance , since I don’t own any metallic lip product because is just something I am never ever ever ever gonna wear , I applied my favorite lip stain in the most Wonderfull red orange based with a slightly terra-cotta undertone shade by Too Faced https://www.sephora.sg/products/too-faced-melted-matte-long-wear-lipstick-gingerbread-girl-limited-edition/v/default
I love this formula so much and this particular tone is something I just love to rock out as soon as September comes around . The key is choose whatever glittery based shadow or product you have and slightly press it one as soon as you apply you lipstick . If you have like me applied a lip stain ,wait a few seconds or it would be too wet and it will not stick on the lips. It would be perfect if you have a glitter only product or top coat but since I didn’t have one I choose an antique gold glittery shadow from the same Morphe palette and I applied it as much as I wanted and there you have it.
I know is not something I would wear everyday or every weekend when I go out but as you guys know whenever I feel inspired to try something new I enjoy try it . Even if is just for a few minutes and then rinse it off I love to try play make mistakes and start all over again.
I hope you have found some of this inspiring or just fun and I will see you soon guys!
